Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, “and what is the use of a book,” thought Alice, “without pictures or conversations?”

It’s obviously Alice In Wonderland or Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll, but if I guessed the wrong one I don’t know if I could ever forgive myself. ;-)
heh heh. Of course.
It is ONE of those. Yes.
Oh by the way Dave J – It would be possible for you to guess/surmise which of the 2 books this first sentence belongs to.
Think about how Alice in Wonderland starts … with the white rabbit running by, and Alice running after him.
The second book is called Through the Looking Glass … and so Alice’s entry into Wonderland is … er … through the looking glass …
So … if you read the sentence I posted again …
:) Deductive reasoning.
Yes, I do lean toward it being the first book, but as I said, I couldn’t go so far as to guess that.
