    God bless John Cassavetes.

Man, how I miss the guy.

‘Faces’ is one of the greats. And if you ever get the chance, check out Ray Carney’s book ‘Cassavetes on Cassavetes’, very cool/solid read about John, his life, his films.

    Touching all the bases.

    Yeah.

How odd, I watched this yesterday for the first time.

The film absolutely blew my head off. I’m still trying to comprehend exactly what I saw. Gonna watch ‘A Woman Under The Influence’ next, but in a few days – I think I need to space Cassavetes out, or else there’ll be serious emotional overload!

PS. I love Ray Carney, what a critic.

    Nabeel –

I love that you just saw it for the first time!

I so agree – Cassavetes has to be taken in small doses! I still have to gear myself up emotionally to see his movies, and I’ve seen them all! Faces is so intense. I love them all in it, but Seymour Cassel is particularly wonderful.

And Opening Night is perhaps not the most beloved of Cassavetes movies, but I love it and never get sick of it. That movie scared the shit out of me the first time I saw it, it hit so close to home, and it still has that effect.

    Rowlands. A real goddess.

Nabeel – Oh, and come back and talk about Woman Under Influence after you’ve seen it! I saw it again recently with a friend of mine. Harrowing film. Peter Falk is heartbreaking in it. He just wants to do the right thing.
