Thoughts on the Iranian Film Blogathon

Although I did my own little post-mortem here, Kevin Lee, the editor of Fandor, was kind enough to suggest that I share some more of my thoughts about the week of the Iranian Film Blogathon, and my own experience running the blogathon, over on Fandor.

And so I have, and here it is: Breaking Through the Ban: Thoughts on the Iranian Film Blogathon.

It’s funny how movies work, Sheila, and what stays in the mind. Of all the powerful images of Iran I found through your Blogathon, the one that haunts the most is the woman on her bicycle being chased by men on horseback in “The Day I Became A Woman”. To encourage others to discover that beautiful film, and the many other features I saw for the first time, is reason enough to applaud your effort. So, thanks again, Sheila!! Fantastic job!!

That note from Reza gave me the chills. Just for a moment.
    Then, I was sad again.

    Phil – I know. Me too. :(

Not a day has gone by since the blogathon that I haven’t thought of him at least once. So glad he wrote.
