   Well my band will never show up on a list like that. My band’s name is… whatever the hell this is transcribed. Maybe “ssssSSSHHabbbalaba-ffabalaba-ghrubaluba-grmm!mm!heygh…” for short.

   I couldn’t even get through the first half of the second sentence without being awestruck by the brilliance of the wit.

   Nobody brings anything new to the hate mail table anymore. It’s always the same old “your an idiot,” and “your a fucking idiot,” and “an idiot belongs to you,”….

   “An idiot belongs to you”? That’s great. Unless I’m just really sheltered and he’s actually quoting someone, that’s just genius.

   I am the most clueless person on earth about pop culture (and no, not because “TV? I don’t even OWN a tv?”). But that made me laugh. I love it when a blogger punctures the pretensions of people who consider themselves “Entertainers with a capital E” that are really just singing a song about doing a girl in the backseat of their Camaro.

   “Test Icicles.” oh, my word.

   I think there’s also a rule that can be derived from that list: Do not let someone who is high name your band.

   And rule #2: Do not incorporate your pet’s name into your band name.

   My band probably should be on that list, but for once our truly wretched level of obscurity and sporadic schedule (you try practicing and booking gigs when your rhythm section are respectively getting a doctorate–that would be me, on bass–and going to law school–that would be the drummer) is working to our advantage.

   Hi, I wrote that list & got a track back here. Thought I’d mention how sad it is that Steve Ely is the first person to pick up on that joke. I have actually gotten a few e-mails from people telling me that “I” spelled it incorrectly.

   The running theory right now is that when the lead singer was very young, a typographer killed his parents in front of his own eyes, & he’s still not fully recovered from the incident.

   Made me laugh out loud in the office. Not good ;-)
