Thanks for the stills. I’ve been slowly reading Hrabal and watching Menzel’s films from his stories this year…wonderful stuff!

Wonderful movie – so funny and ironic and ultimately tragic. His quest to get over his “premature ejaculation” is so sweet and naive. It’s beautifully shot. I just love it.

    How is the book?

  3. Dwight says:

Very, very good. And if you like Menzel’s adaptation, chances are good you’ll like Hrabal. For some excerpts of Hrabal feel free to scan some posts on him. “Because when I read, I don’t really read; I pop a beautiful sentence into my mouth and suck it like a fruit drop, or I sip it like a liqueur until the thought dissolves in me like alcohol, infusing brain and heart and coursing through the veins to the root of each blood vessel.”

Larks on a String is another adaptation Menzel did of Hrabal, as was I Served the King of England. All enjoyable movies.

    Thanks for the recommendations!

    That is a fantastic quote.
