Deliverance, 40 Years Later

Recently, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the great film Deliverance, the great Kim Morgan interviewed the four stars. She only had ten minutes. Ten minutes. How do you interview these four powerhouses about this seminal film in ten minutes? Watch Kim work her magic.

I am particularly struck by Burt Reynolds’ revelation, which came out immediately, with her first question:

I’d also like to mention…as Ronny has said too… that women get this movie much quicker than men. Women also understand. You know, for so many years men threw the word rape around and never thought about what they were saying. And I think the picture makes men think about something that’s very important, that we understand the pain and embarrassment and the change of people’s lives.

Thank you, Mr. Reynolds, for acknowledging that. For saying that.

But I have to think that part of that admission has to do with the fact that Kim Morgan was asking the question. These big tough guys opened up to her.

Seriously: Not to be missed.
