I think that was the most entertaining award show in years! I thought Tina and Amy were wonderful, I wish we had seen more of them. Also love the bit above-I found it very funny.
I love the way he turns around to look at the set when Kristen starts talking. He always gets me with those little touches!
I know!!! It feels so real, like they are actually totally out of control – sooo funny to me!!
One of the best bits on the show. I almost always enjoy the Golden Globes, especially since they have an open bar! Thought Tina F. and Amy P. were tops.
Yes – I love those two together. I remember seeing them perform back in Chicago, pre-fame, at Second City and Improv Olympic. Girl power in the midst of the boys club (and many of those boys are rightly famous now, too). It makes me happy to see their success!
Ugh. I must be the only person in the world who isn’t a Kristen Wiig fan. It’s like all her good stuff is forever tainted by fucking Gilly. I don’t HATE her (I loved her character in Knocked Up, and I’ve heard Bridesmaids was funny although I haven’t seen it.) but man, she bugs me. I can’t put my finger on why, though.
Really??
I loved her in Bridesmaids and I found her to be damn-near tragic in Friends with Kids.
Sometimes people bug me too, though. I get it.
I think I like her better in movies than on SNL.
Lisa – yes, me too. My thing about her is: she’s actually a leading lady. She’s not just good in “sketches” or things that last 5 minutes long. She can carry a movie. (Bridesmaids proves that.) She’s awkward and hard to watch but she reminds me of Jill Clayburgh and Diane Keaton and other awkward-1970s-leading-ladies. (She cast Jill Clayburgh as her mother in Bridesmaids – so I think she has an awareness of the continuum she might be in too).
And seriously – in Friends with Kids – she’s not funny at all, except in an AWFUL way. Like, she is a poster-child for a bitter unhappy mother/wife. And it’s sooo real. Jon Hamm plays her husband. They aren’t the leads, they’re just part of the “circle of friends”, and it’s pretty brutal.
But I agree. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next. The success of Bridesmaids bodes well for her!
I think FRIENDS WITH KIDS was really good. Love Adam Scott. Wish I had started to watch Community when it came on, but cannot do 1/2 hour shows at all. And I found Jon Hamm so disturbing. He’s never done that to me before. The first time I remember seeing him was his arc on THE UNIT. Miss that show. Not my mind of TV at all, but absolutely loved it. I can sometimes surprise myself.
He was totally disturbing. I know guys like that and they freakin’ terrify me. His outburst at the ski lodge – soooo real, so good. That movie kind of surprised me.
and I had forgotten about her in Knocked Up – very funny.
Did you see Ghost Town?? she has one scene in that and she’s hilarious. I loved that movie.
