KHmer Temples: Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

  2. red says:

That is the fastest trivia game I have ever initiated.

    WELL done, my Cuban friend.

  3. red says:

I’d love to go see them. A friend of mine backpacked through Cambodia and said you literally cannot comprehend the size of the thing. It is beyond the human brain’s capacity – and photographs cannot capture it.

  4. Val Prieto says:

I did a report on them in high school believe it or not. I cant believe I remembered that.

Sheesh, Im just chock full of trivial information like that.

  5. Will says:

    Dear Sheila:

I read the question, and thought, “Ooh! Ooh! I know the answer!” – Val had beaten me to it. Good work. Restores my faith in the fact that there are a few who actually know geography and history.

I remember the National Geographic’s “Geography Bee” in the mid-late-’80′s — the one where over half of high-school students couldn’t find the Soviet Union on a map (hint: It covered eleven time zones – you could find it at ten feet with a blindfold and a dart!) — and thought that the Persian Gulf was either in Asia, South America, or Europe.

Again; good to see that the trend is changing — at least among those who care!

    Cheers!

  6. missed them on my last trip to thailand. cambodia is next on my SE asia itinerary.

  7. Dave J says:

Hmmmm…sorry, but I have to add SE Asia to my gradually building “to-don’t” list. Nothing against the place, but I just could survive without ever going there.

  8. Joe says:

    Mere multiple structures, my lad…

The Hagia Sophia would be my guess.

  9. red says:

Joe – no the answer is Angkor Wat. The largest temple in the complex (I think its name is Angkor Thom) is the largest single religious building in the world.

That’s why I said it was the quickest trivia game I ever initiated, because Val answered the question literally 3 minutes after i posted it. :)
