Lion – hahahaha I know – I love how there’s not a line thru the car going off the pier – you know, like no smoking signs showing a cigarette with a line thru it. The sign is not saying DON’T DO THIS … it’s saying: This could possibly happen. And if it does … there’s a wee life preserver beneath the sign that could come in handy.
For me, that one’s a close tie to the “No Fouling” ones with the dogs that have steaming piles of poop underneath their hineys. Like, thanks for that extra detail of steam so we know that it’s all warm and fresh and stuff.
The car pitching into the sea is hilarious. No second guessing what they’re warning you about.
One of my favorite Irish signs is one in Glendalough that warns, seemingly frantically, “Beware! Sheep!” Given the nature of sheep, I thought it rather overstated. As if to prove my point, when I got out of the car to take a pic of the sign, I scared the bejaysus out of a flock coming down the lane. They all turned tail and ran back the way they came, on their little black-stockinged legs, climbing over each other to get away. The sheep dog just stood there watching them with the perfect dog expression on his face. Like, “I can’t believe this is my job.” The sign probably should have read, “Beware! Sheep are dumb enough to be erratic and self-destructive!”
Perhaps the most amusing signpost ever created. There has got to be more than a few of those that sprouted legs and walked off.

Yeah, really. Thanks for making me envision a steaming new pile of dog shit.
Most excellent! My all time favorite sign was in the old Hayden Planetarium in NYC. It said ” Solar System & Rest rooms” with a big arrow….

Oh my God, that is so so so funny … hahaha Beware! Sheep!
The sheep are terrified of you. They flee into the distance.
I love Glendalough – it’s one of my favorite places on the face of the earth!
