Scary dolls are coming to get you. They are on the march.

Patrick Hughes details his trip to a creepy antique store. I think it was when Patrick started throwing in quotes from TS Eliot, etc., that I began to lose it. If you haven’t read Patrick’s stuff, you’re missing out. People literally sit around all year, twiddling their thumbs, waiting for his photo-essays about annual visits to Ren Faires, and also his family’s legendary holiday parties. I started laughing so hard reading one of his essays about a camping trip he took that I needed to get up and take a walk, to calm myself down.

So funny. I really needed that laugh! Here’s the link. The images are very disturbing, and don’t miss his increasingly panicked commentary.

My SIL’s mother collects those dolls (the one in the picture after the “incompetent racism” comment) (which, hee). I don’t know the name of them, but they make several different “sets” and she has the Christmas Carolers and the Santas.

We went down to ATL one year for Christmas and I got stuck staying in the room with all the little caroler people. It was like a macabre doll production of “A Christmas Carol.” I couldn’t sleep the whole time I was there.

Ahahaha! That’s great. I used to read his blog Bad News Hughes religiously and wondered whatever happened to him. P.S., everyone who likes the dolls needs to check out Ye Olde Diary of Indignities (just Google that phrase), his trip to the Medieval Faire, featuring this first caption:

“If the first goddamn thing you see when you walk in isn’t some robey Friar Tuck-ass motherfucker gnawing away on a turkey leg, run and get your money back, ’cause you at the wrong place.”

As a former Medieval Times cocktail wench, I founde it most dyverting.

Bren – I got sucked into something else, it’s still waiting to be seen! Once I get the reading out of the way – ahhhhhh!!! – I will be ALL OVER Pick of Destiny.

    Wish you were here!

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard at something on the internet (or possibly ever) than I did at his post on the family holiday. Remember his dad dressed up in some superhero costume and it ripped? I’m so glad to see he’s writing again online.
