These photos are absolutely incredible - terrifying.
That second one down ...
It looks like the end of the world.
Be well everybody out there ... we're thinking about you.
Posted by Sheila O'Malley at October 28, 2003 05:06 PM | TrackBackit hasn't been fun. like living in the suburbs of purgatory. it's been raining ash for days. i left for san fran just so i could breathe again. it's one of the few times i haven't wanted to be in socal.
i can't imagine being on the firelines.
Posted by: the mighty jimbo at October 28, 2003 06:20 PMIt's been dark and smokey all day long here at work in the eastern San Gabriel Valley (La Verne/Claremont area.) Thankfully the temps are dropping and we should be closer to normal weather by the weekend, high 60s and low 70s maybe. Still, teh fires are burning mostly out of control. I'm not sure what will happen in Arrowhead. One of my coworkers has a house up there. She's just waiting for the bad news. I guess we lost Santa's Village this afternoon. (It's been closed for a few years, but still...)
Posted by: Prescott at October 28, 2003 08:37 PMWe got burned out during my first marriage. There is no way to adequately describe the total sence of loss associated with seeing what is left of your home and belongings after a fire. Floods are bad but don't even come close to the inner devistation and I've been through both. My heart and prayers go out everytime I see or hear something about these events.
Posted by: Jim at October 28, 2003 09:36 PMGod, you all - Thanks for checking in. It means a lot - especially since I have never seen a raging fire, etc., and am trying to comprehend what everyone is going through. What it is LIKE.
May those damn fires be put out - and soon.
