The question of the day

is asked by Roger Ebert, in his negative review of Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, the sequel (duh!) to Dirty Dancing:

Is Fidel [Castro] really needed in a retread of "Dirty Dancing"?

This is ridiculous, on multiple levels.

I have a better question: Is Fidel Castro really needed period?

That is one of the levels I was referencing.

There are many more.

I confess I actually like the original. Really. It's a fun movie.

And if you've ever said "Nobody puts baby in a corner" then you're not allowed to laugh.

Oh shit, I LOVED the original! I saw it many many times!

But the re-tread sounds pretty bad.

I especially liked Jennifer Gray's white pedal pushers. I bought some for myself, right after seeing the movie.

My favorite movie line ever: "Where is my beige, iridescent lipstick?"

Or the Law and Order guy saying to Johnny/Patrick Swayze, "When I'm wrong I say I'm wrong..." Like that is gonna solve all his past assholeness.

ooooh - Dirty Dancing, Law and Order, or on the stage --- I love that Jerry Orbach!

I too especially liked Jennifer Gray's white pedal pushers and bought some for Bill, right after seeing the movie.
