Ouch

Last night, I danced for four hours straight like a banshee from hell. (I was in a dance club. Thank God. It's not like I was just randomly dancing by myself on a street corner.) A friend of mine turned 40 yesterday, and a throng of us convened on this dance club which is a total bridge-and-tunnel hangout - the kind of place that plays songs like "It's Raining Men" and everyone LOSES their minds.

I was wearing stilettos though. I cannot describe to you the torture I feel today. My feet. My poor poor feet. They look helpless, vulnerable, and completely messed up.

But the dancing was great fun. Even though I'm paying for it today.

Oh, and happy birthday Sesame Street. You WERE my childhood.

Sheila-I'm pretty sure that "plays songs like "It's Raining Men" and everyone LOSES their minds." is self evident.

That could just be my white male, can't dance perspective. Four hours though...that just gives me the willies.

Hope the feet feel better.

There are times when bars that play "It's Raining Men", "Erotic City" and any pre-1989 Madonna are essential for your well-being.

Speaking as a guy who used to be a DJ at a bar just like that...

Ok...I'll trust you on that Mitch. The idea of being there for four hours still gives ME the willies.

Depends on the circumstances.

Working? Pretty dreadful.

Sitting on a barstool and lamenting the tragedy of one's life? Not so hot.

Dancing? Sign me up.

sheila, there are a number of reasons i'm glad i'm a guy, and not having to wear heels is REAL close to the top of the list...so is not having to shave my legs!

Dancing in general is good for the well-being. But not in stilettos. The best kind of dancing is when you are barefoot and in a grassy field at a concert. Then I could dance for 8 hours, not 4.

Tim, having to be on top of the whole shaving-legs things is a drag. I admit it. And yet I do it. Many women obviously do not, but I do.
