I was completely "moonstruck" last night. It was one of those nights. The moon was high and full, it looked huge against the New York skyline, huge, floating between the buildings, and it was a pale pale yellow.
I felt a little bit like a lunatic.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one.
Posted by sheilaI was told by a certain space expert (my ten year old) that the mooon was only 98% full last night. So tonight will be even more moonbatty.

Posted by: popskull at May 5, 2004 10:58 AMThere was an occasion many years ago when I was driving over mostly deserted country roads back toward OKC at night. As I turned east, I noticed a glow up ahead seemingly in the middle of the road. As I went along it kept getting brighter and brighter. I began to think it must be a fire - a farmer burning a field after harvest to place nutrients back in the soil is not an unknown phenomenon. As I drove on, though, the light got so bright that I feared the fire must be huge, and that it was apparently crossing the road. I wondered if it could be the moon, but it was just way too large. Finally, as I came up over a hill, I realized that I had indeed been viewing a moonrise that just happened to be centered directly on the road on which I was travelling, making it seem incredibly large.
Needless to say, I had a good laugh at my own expense that night...
