Tomorrow,
I’ll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody’ll dare
Say to me,
“Eat in the kitchen,”
Then.
Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed —
I, too, am America.
— Langston Hughes, “I, too”

Man, another great one. Are prospective boyfriends exhilarated or daunted by your bookshelves?
If they are exhilarated, they have a shot with me. If they are daunted, I kick them to the curb.
One was actually totally indifferent to them, which I found supremely charming. He looked at the 5 book shelves around my room, as he was stretching and yawning, and commented, “Man, you must be pretty intelligent.”
That might be the best response. :)
love that poem!!
Hmm . . . have to remember that.
