Sorry, already told you. It's there, too.

Claude Rains - "Round up the usual suspects"

Surprising and completely satisfying.

That is a coincidence, Scott. :)

I am also, strangely partial to the un-remarkable line:

"Are my eyes brown?"

It's not the LINE that is so great ... but it's the MOMENT. Love it.

How DARE you do such a cool, long movie post while I'm in Tech! I'll never forgive you for this, Sheila.

So now......I shall ramble more because I have tomorrow off.

Great Lines From Great Movies

Greatest Romantic Line:

" Let's not ask for the moon, Jerry, when we have the stars."

-Bette Davis to Paul Henrid in "NOW, VOYAGER" (the scene where Henrid lights the two ciggs in his mouth, and hands one to Davis. By they way, this was Davis' idea in rehearsal. The director hated it, but she demanded it stay in. It changed the way men smoked forever).

Greatest Sex Line:

"I've never done this before. And now that we've done it, I'd like you to do it to me again."

-Mickey O'Rourke to Kim Bassinger in "9 AND A HALF WEEKS"
(The movie Bassinger SHOULD have won her Oscar for).

Funniest Quip Between 2 or More Characters (Tie):

"I hear my enjoyment levels are down."

"Well...no. But....you're holding something back."

"Holding something back?"

"I'm not really a film director, I'm actually from the theatre. SHHhh. Like in comedy: it's a rule, the inflection goes UP at the end of the line."

"That's a comedy RU-U-U-ULE?"

From POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE

A long howl is heard off in the distance as the horse drawn carriage approches the castle.

"Werewolf!"

"There Wolf. There Castle."

"Why are you talking like that?"

"I thought you wanted to."

"No, I don't want to."

"Suit yourself, I'm easy."

From YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (STEEN)

Best-Worst Line in Movie History:

"You! You humans with your stupid, stupid stupidity! Look at you! All you are is STUPID!"

From PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE
(The film that made Ed Wood a cult hero, and was brilliantly portrayed by Johnny Depp in 'Ed Wood'.The fact that he wasn't nominated for an Oscar is a crime)

And finally:
Greates Line in Movie History:

This was a hard one. There are so many, so I narrowed it down to 2 that are not only great lines in the movies, but great lines that can be used in everyday life:

"Go ahead, make my day."

You can use this in trafic, in lines at the supermarket, to your boss, or sometimes to an annoying Girl Scout. Well....it worked for me. Who knew that a line like that would come out of Clint Eastwood? Easily one of the worst actors on the planet, and a far better director, this was the only line in his entire career he ever improvised, and it's the only one we associate with him. It's a kick-butt line.

And ofcourse:

"Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore."
From THE WIZARD OF OZ.
(This line is part of the American vernacular. This was a fact I read in Time magazine about 3 or 4 months ago: they said, "everyday in the United States on an average, you will hear some sort of reference to The Wizard Of Oz." Think about it, and see if you can count everday if you hear one. After I read that, I started noticing it. It's true. Every day, I hear some sort of reference to this movie.

Sheila,
Don't ever do something like this without including me. Ever.

Best line (Princess Bride category):

I don't envy you the headache you will have when you awake. But, in the meantime, rest well ... and dream of large women.

Best line (obscure personal category):

In The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, while BB is doing brain surgery, to a colleague...

No, no, no, no. Don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to.

Best line(s) overall:

I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

I've got a quote for you:

"Even if you were Jeffrey Dahmer, we would love you."
