Top 5 Mania

Top 5 lines said by Humphrey Bogart in his films:

1. "I don't mind if you don't like my manners. I don't like them myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them long winter evenings." - The Big Sleep (another good one from The Big Sleep is: "She tried to sit in my lap while I was standing up.")

2. "I was misinformed." - Casablanca

3. "I hope they don't hang you, precious, by that sweet neck. Yes, angel, I'm gonna send you over." - The Maltese Falcon

4. "Ahh, but the strawberries that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist..." - The Caine Mutiny

5. "I stick my neck out for nobody." - Casablanca

Wasn't it Bogie who said, "We don't need no stinkin' passports!" in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" or "They Drive by Night"? Hope so--that line has been adapted so often it should be a chart topper for any iconoclast.

Bud - I actually think that that is one of those famously mis-quoted lines - nobody actually says those exact words. And I think it's one of the Mexicans who says it - during the scene when Bogie is wandering about, going mad, dunking his face in the puddle ...

But I could be wrong. Anyone??

Sheila See comment in Top 5 Scenes above. It was the Mexican and it was the scene when the bandits have them pinned down in some rocks by their camp.
