This is a modern-day book - I think it came out in the 1990s. I read it - the guy is a master. He came out with a very big sequel to the original novel - which won the National Book Award. He's very MALE - writes about the intricacies of the American male experience (the American male experience from the suburban point of view I mean) - he's a fantastic writer. Not big on plot or anything like that - but a damn fine writer.
