    Clue:

This book has a first line that has been categorized by many as “one of the greatest first lines of a novel ever written”.

Hard to say what this book is about. A huge intellectual accomplishment – having to do with mathematics, war, code-breaking, and … other things.

Ah. Pynchon, Gravity’s Rainbow. If so, I have a great excuse for why I didn’t know it: I haven’t ever managed to finish the book. I’ve tried five times or more; but I lose it totally in The Zone, the minute Tchitcherine the Owl shows up I get lost. I know you’re supposed to get lost, but I can’t stand it, so I stop and start over again at the beginning.

    Yes – Gravity’s Rainbow. :)

I just love how it ends on this rousing note … calling everyone to join in. So cool.

  4. Linus says:

    I’ll finish it, one day.

I was the one who got the first line on this one, too. Now if you do a game on names of literary Owls, I’ll get to ace it again.

You? Never. Did the Kenosha? – Kid
