Time to get serious

Listen, people, I know we're always joking here on the blog ... ha ha ... yuk yuk yuk ... woah, funny funny, mkay?

But sometimes it's time to get serious.

And now, I guess, is one of those times.

And so I have this to say to these two: HANG IN THERE, GUYS, HANG IN THERE.

Please, God. Please, God. Let them be okay. I don't know if I can take it otherwise. Let them make it through. PLEASE.

(thanks for the heads up, Emily.)

Like I don't have enough on my plate, now I gotta worry about this!? Thanks!

David,
This is a good place to share in your pain. We're all suffering the same. We're here for you, brother.

I don't want to push anyone off the bridge, but the Spears marriage is in trouble too.

If it all goes south for both couples, I might just do myself in.

Now that one's an absolute *shock*.

(I typed that through tears, BTW.)

Posted by: Emily at February 10, 2005 04:23 PM

Bill -

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Posted by: red at February 10, 2005 04:27 PM

Just in time for Valentine's Day too, dammit.

My heart is dead.

Posted by: red at February 10, 2005 04:28 PM

I just don't know what to do either. This may be remembered as the day that the love died.

If Red Bull, Cheetos, and baby mama drama won't hold your marriage together,

WHAT WILL?!!!!!

On t'other hand, I wonder if this is giving anyone at MTV ideas?

"NewlySplits: Nick & Jessica"

Episode 1 has the lawyers going over the Prenup to find out who gets custody of the dental implants.

Posted by: skinnydan at February 10, 2005 04:31 PM

skinnydan:

EXCELLENT point. They can definitely capitalize on their split, in a reality-TV show kind of way.

But my heart is still dead.

Posted by: red at February 10, 2005 04:33 PM

Well, there goes my day. Week. Month.

Group therpy, anyone?

Posted by: michele at February 10, 2005 04:42 PM

Group therapy sounds good. I may need alcohol and a group hug too.

Posted by: Bill McCabe at February 10, 2005 04:47 PM

Bill ... maybe something like this would help?

Posted by: red at February 10, 2005 04:49 PM

Sheila,
Please. There's enough suffering here already.

Posted by: Emily at February 10, 2005 04:52 PM

Sheila,

Believe it or not, I almost wrote "or one of those pathetic cuddle parties" at the end of that last comment. But I knew that would be taking it too far.

Posted by: Bill McCabe at February 10, 2005 04:53 PM

When we're this collectively hurt, there is no such thing as taking it too far.

Posted by: red at February 10, 2005 04:54 PM

We should all write haikus to deal with our hurting.

Posted by: Emily at February 10, 2005 05:05 PM

Let's not prejudge this. After all, it's only a rumour and Jessica HAS denied it.

Although.. "tabloids ran pictures of Lachey, 31, surrounded by cheerleaders at a Super Bowl party in Jacksonville, Fla".. damn those tabloids.. damn them.

In the half-full glass, though.. IF there really was a split on the cards the report would have mentioned that Jessica's focus on her career was causing problems.

Jessica and Nick
Oh my God say it ain't so
chicken of the sea...

Posted by: red at February 10, 2005 05:29 PM

Jessica and Nick
My heart aches as their hearts ache
My symbols of love

(Well, I'm not that good at haiku, but I think the general feel comes through)

Posted by: michele at February 10, 2005 05:30 PM

Ok, Sheila wins.

Posted by: michele at February 10, 2005 05:31 PM

The newlyweds in chaos
pink lipstick hearts melt
Nick and Jessica no more

Posted by: Just1Beth at February 10, 2005 09:20 PM

A reverse haiku, in honor of Jessica's brain

Posted by: Just1Beth at February 10, 2005 09:21 PM

Sordid pleasures end
Precious memories linger
Brouhaha,despair

Marriage trouble talk
bad for smart business model
based on lasting love.

Yet bright notes exist;
for this tabloid scandal means
Ashlee gets no press.

Let me get this straight -
Famous breakups on V-day?
Sweet schaedenfreude!

So you say it's true:
Even the pretty and rich
Dissed by Cupid now?

Bitter Single Girl,
I, cannot work up a lot
of sympathy for them.

Posted by: ricki at February 11, 2005 09:16 AM

You guys. The haikus. You completely rock.

"sweet schaudenfraude" - HAHAHA

Posted by: red at February 11, 2005 09:18 AM

"brouhaha, despair" ...

hahaha

Posted by: red at February 11, 2005 09:19 AM

Celeb Newlyweds
Nice to look at, Not so Bright
They're done? No big whoop

I grant you it's not on the schaudenfraude level, but I'll work on it

Posted by: skinnydan at February 11, 2005 09:58 AM

See? Isn't all this unabated artistic expression of our mutual anguish positively liberating? I can feel my heart healing already.

We must revel in this revealing moment!
