Rumor?

Or true? I can't even tell anymore.

The announcement has just been made that Daniel Craig will be the new Bond

The picture they chose to go along with the story makes him look anemic and watery-eyed. The opposite is true. He's a hunk, pretty much.

I saw him play Ted Hughes in Sylvia and he was incredible - sexy, manly, etc. etc. He had that tiny sense of danger about him, like you didn't know what he was going to do.

So this seems like good casting to me. I can't understand why they picked such a wimpy-looking picture to go with the announcement. Like: Hi, here's a consumptive-looking guy with a runny nose ... to play 007.

No. We must have Orlando Bloom.

If it was in The Sun it's still only a rumour.

Although I did hear that rumour.. somewhere.. I'm not sure I believe it to be honest.

According to one report today, which suggested that Brosnan would in fact be back, Ian Fleming originally wanted a certain Cary Grant to play the role in Dr No... hmmm.

If it's rumor, is Clive still in the running? In a way it would be too bad if Clive, with his talent, gets stuck in that role. Brosnan was kind of perfect - superficial enough that he fits the role well but you don't miss him elsewhere.

I just can't see it. I barely noticed him in Tomb Raider, and I think that "the" James Bond must be able to outshine Angelina Jolie. I personally don't think he's all that great looking. I also saw Sylvia, and again wasn't that impressed, although I admit that I'm more into the bulky men like Jason Stratham than the "intellectual" men such as Mr. Craig. I'm sure he can't do any worse than the last James Bond movie, and I agree that your picture is far superior to the yahoo pic. I do like the fact that Craig isn't all that well-known.

I hear that Clive didn't even want the part, so I guess Craig is the sure bet.

What a tragedy. Pierce Brosnan is the best Bond - ever - and should have been paid large $$$$ to continue portraying 007.

Today's word: he's not Bond. No paper down, no firm offer made, he is not and will not be, etc.

They say Sony would like to see Brosnan do another film, though who knows whether that is wise at this point.

Expect no answers for a time: apparently the production company says that no decisions are going to be made about Casino Royale until the director, Martin Campbell, is finished with his next film. He's doing Legend of Zorro, which IMDb says is in post-production.
