"That stinking poem..."

Alex Beam's latest column is about a new Biography special on Sylvia Plath.

Fascinating. Apparently, the director of the special found some old footage of Aurelia Plath (Sylvia's mother) ... and in it Mrs. Plath complains about her daughter's poem Medusa (in which Sylvia expresses her rage about her relationship to her mother). Mrs. Plath calls it "that stinking poem". Can't wait to see that!!

Two things:

-- Now that I have cable, I can watch the special. This is why I wanted cable. Not just so I can watch Trading Spaces and E! True Hollywood Story deep into the wee smas (although that is also something to look forward to) ... but so I can watch stuff like this. April 22, 5 pm, Biography channel. I am so there.

-- Beam also mentions that starting in September, the Upper East Side Grolier Club is having an exhibit of Plath stuff: letters, journals, photos ... all in the same place (a shocker, to anyone who knows anything about Plath's estate and the far-flung nature of all of her stuff. It's all over the place, not consolidated at one library.) But now this exhibit is bringing a ton of it all together. I am so there.

Oh, I am definitely going to tape it. I'll bring a copy of it on the get-together of the century and give it to you.
