Movie quote

"I was at Woodstock, for Christ's sake. I peed in a field!"

It was on the tip of my tongue (or my brain), but I wasn't getting it. Then I scrolled on down and saw your Keanu reference a few posts down.

It's another Parenthood line, right?

Great flick.

You know how much I love that movie!
(i still have your copy by the way)

which I would like to borrow next, before it heads south to NY and it's rightful owner....

Dianne Wiest is so damn great in that movie.

I like when she's flipping through her daughter's naked pictures that she took with her boyfriend, and she's so upset, and she takes out one - looks at her daughter, and says, "Ohhhh. This one's for my wallet."

Martha Plimpton is so good in it, too! I love her!!

How 'bout poor little Cool? With his little 'fro?

Posted by: red at July 13, 2005 8:08 AM

Dianne Wiest's cousin was one of my daughter's teachers. The poor woman- I never did, but wanted to discuss her cousin at LENGTH. She was a great teacher, though.

They all do such a brilliant job in that movie. I love the scene at the end at the school play..and you can hear the roller coaster..
I have so many favorite parts of Parenthood.
ok- Beth, you can have it next but I have to watch it again first.

Posted by: mere at July 13, 2005 8:29 AM

Oh God, the roller coaster moment - so wonderful!! Steve Martin freaking out ... but his wife is laughing, really getting into the moment ... beautiful!

How 'bout how amazing Jason Robards is ... that moment when he finally accepts that his son is a loser and a mooch and a thief and he buys him off. God, it's such a killer!!

Posted by: red at July 13, 2005 8:34 AM

Rick Moranis cracks me up. His poor daughter in that movie.

Posted by: red at July 13, 2005 8:34 AM

Oh and Tommy, by the way: excellent work with the deductive reasoning!! :)

Posted by: red at July 13, 2005 8:35 AM

Mere - I forget, what's the funny line about the grandmother?

Something like: "she just got in the neighbor's car."

Posted by: red at July 13, 2005 8:38 AM

OH Yeah. that was great!
Jason Robards WAS amazing. I felt so bad for his character.

The part you reference with the Keanu post is probably my favorite part. After Keanu says any idiot can be a father, Dianne Wiest has a look on her face that says "I understand and respect this boy so much more now than I did ten minutes ago."

And when Steve Martin's looking for the flashlight and brings out the vibrator. I hadn't seen the movie in years, and forgot that part until I saw it again. Cracked me up the second time.

"I hung on to the Who's helicopters and FLEW AWAY!"

"You were at Woodstock? So was I!"

"Really? I thought you looked familiar."

Posted by: Emily at July 13, 2005 10:51 AM

emily - hahahahaha

I love that line!!!

Posted by: red at July 13, 2005 10:52 AM

Tommy,

Kid: What is THAT?

Mom: It's...an...electric...ear cleaner.

Posted by: Emily at July 13, 2005 10:52 AM

Mere- Refresh my memory- is it ok for my kids to watch? PS We watched "Meet the Fockers" last night, which was a bit racier than I had anticipated, but we are all able to still look one another in the eyes this morning, so all is ok.

Posted by: Just1Beth at July 13, 2005 10:53 AM

its not as racy as Meet the Fockers by any means! besides the vibrator and porn scenes I think its fine, but I don't think kids would find it as funny as adults do. OH YEAH and the scene when Steve Martin crashes the car because his wife attempts to give him a blow job because he is so stressed out...that might be a little much.

Posted by: mere at July 13, 2005 11:07 AM

hahaha I forgot about that scene!!

Posted by: red at July 13, 2005 11:08 AM

sooo funny! I wish I could get it on DVD. Its impossible to find, though.

Posted by: mere at July 13, 2005 11:11 AM

You could always rent it on DVD, not return it and pay the whopping fine. That is how I usually end up owning movies.

Posted by: Just1Beth at July 13, 2005 2:23 PM

I know you and your passive aggression towards returning things..HAHAHA can we talk about the library books?
