Rosa Parks has died at age 92. She was "surrounded by a small group of friends and family members."
Rest in peace, dear courageous lady.

Growing up in Montgomery shortly after these times, I asked a few of my family's friends about their part in the bus boycotts. White women who had black maids that no longer rode the bus... so they had to pick the maids up and drop them off in the family car, unbeknownst to other family members (or who at least turned a blind eye to it). All I usually got was a "we did what we had to do" sort of answer, but there was always a glint or twinkle in their eye as they talked about it. Yeah, that part seems small and insignificant and a little more than self-serving, but the boycott would not have worked without it. And that twinkle indicates to me now that they knew they were aiding and abetting in the definace.
