I cherish Val's blog for many reasons - but he knows that one of the main reasons is because occasionally he writes posts like this. His personal posts take my breath away.
Thanks, Val.
Posted by sheilaThanks for this post. I visited his site and hope that he will discuss some things I'm interested in.
Feliz Navidad
Posted by: David N at December 20, 2005 1:32 PMGracias, Sheila!!! Sorry I missed meeting you, once again, while up in NYC this weekend. You know how it is when you travel for just a few days, never enough time to do half the stuff you want to do.
I guess the post you linked to might need a little clarification regarding San Lazaro. I believe Amanda posted something on him on the 17th at Babalu.
Posted by: Val Prieto at December 20, 2005 1:38 PMSheesh,I just realized I deleted half of my comment.
There is also a post on San Lazaro written by Carlos Eire, professor of theology at Yale, that pretty much says it all. And, if you havent read his book "Waiting for Snow in Havana", I highly recommend it. It's non-fiction about his life in Cuba pre-castro, in the early days after castro and when he came over alone as a boy during the Pedro Pan Operation. I couldnt put it down and ran the gammut of emotions.
David,
Thanks for dropping by Babalu. I read your comment and hope to respond privately as soon as I can spare a few minutes.

I know - it is so hard when you just zip in and out of a city to see everyone! I'm glad you had such a magic moment during your time here though.
Who knew that such a post would ruffle so many feathers??
Ah well - it didn't ruffle mine - I just like how you write. :) I could SEE that dog.
Merry Christmas, my Cuban friend.
