I have to link to this - but I am shaking with laughter .... Jess continues her tradition of posting "bad poetry I wrote when I was a teenager". Words can't express how much I enjoy this series. But I'm sure Jess the poetess could find the words! Also - the doodle in the margins just KILL ME.
Posted by sheilaHa ha ha! Thanks Sheila. I think the masses are generally not into the poetry, but I post it for the three of you who are :)
Posted by: jess at March 17, 2006 05:55 PMYou had me at "atrocious sonnet," Jess.
Posted by: curly mcdimple at March 17, 2006 06:19 PMI am glad to know that there were others out there who wrote "deep thoughts" at a tender young age. Some day I might feel brave enough to share a poem I wrote in 6th grade. But I will need to drink A LOT of wine, first.
Posted by: Just1Beth at March 17, 2006 09:44 PMThat is just fantasitc, Jess. I am very close to you in age, so I appear to fall under similar influences. Something about the combination of the popularity of The Doors movie and the vast amount of angst-driven music fueled a lot of bad poety. Perhaps I'll be brave enough to share some of mine.
Posted by: Cullen at March 18, 2006 07:20 AMI'm still not ready to share the doozy I wrote after Princess Di died. At the time, I was really proud of it. So much so that I imported it into a PowerPoint presentation and made it all pretty with clip art.
Shut up.
I'm grateful for two things: 1) I showed a modicum of restraint and didn't use animation like flying text and flourishes and 2) the file was lost in a hard drive crash.
Thank.God.
