Happy place

I like this new "happy place" thing I'm doing.

I know where I need to go to find the "happy place".

I love this photo. It struck me immediately as a really cool image. It's artificial - obviously posed - and yet he looks natural, totally unselfconscious.

Now THAT is a movie star.

Nightfly - uhm. No. Right now it's looking at John Garfield. And tomorrow it might be looking at old photos of diners. And the next day it might be looking at pictures of Barbara Stanwyck. And so on.

I just think that John Garfield was a smokin' hottie. Helluvan actor, too.

I love how his brow is kind of furrowed, and I also love his clothes.

What's always bothered me about Garfield is that he got Lana Turner in the Postman. I think I've always been a little jealous about that. But definitely, by this picture, you know the guy could carry a suit.

And, yes, Ava was gorgeous.

Val - I love the old-timey suit - with the wide tie - TUCKED IN - and the kind of high-waisted tailored pants. Just gorgeous!! He can carry it off without looking like a dandy.

As smooth as modern movie stars think they may be, they have nothing ... nothing at all ... on the old school. The cool just drips off of him.

Wow, what a GREAT photo!

I also love the clothes: the high-waisted huge pants, the short tie. His whole look is so very masculine... It reminds me of the photo portraits I have of my grandfathers, for which they posed back in the '30s or '40s, they are fascinating; the suits, the serious faces, the sheer elegance... I just love looking at those portraits!

I may be living in the wrong decade, HAHAHA!!! I'm really enjoying "the happy place"...

Sheila - heheh. I dig it. I just meant that you'd probably love to be able to sit with the guy for an hour over hors d'ourves and cocktails and chat; not even about acting, just chat.

Oh man. I have such a fantasy of doing just that. :) My fantasy is that he is an incredible conversationalist. I can't imagine him ever being awkward or bumbling. Maybe he was!! But never in my fantasies!!
