Project Runway??

Thoughts??? I haven't watched it in a couple weeks but I have been obsessively reading posts about it. Jeffrey - BAH. You can actually be talented and not be such a JERK about it. Only I do not find him talented. Here's an interesting take on him.

But anyway. Project Runway fans ... Please share. Catch me up.

must disagree on the jeffrey thing. yes, he is an ass, but what is the deal with a grown woman crying when she doesn't get the colors she wants? getting in his way while he is trying to compete for the chance of a lifetime and CRYING? walk away from the man. give me a break.

can you imagine any of the other women behaving that way? i was glad when he told her to get away. in a larger sense i felt an unconscious attempt on her part to sabotage her daughter's competition.

totally obsessed with this show.

Ok, this is one reason I hate reality shows: I was SO uncomfortable watching Jeffrey and Angela's mom that I had to leave the room. (But I kept the TV on, and listened from the kitchen. Don't try to figure me out -- professionals have tried and failed.)

This season is the first time I've watched PR, and I've enjoyed it IMMENSELY. (Michael is my new TV boyfriend. LOVE. HIM.) The conflict between the contestants? Doesn't bother me at all. Conflict between Tim and Evil Nina and the contestants? Not a prob.

But this. Ick. I couldn't take the being assy to someone's mom. Even if it was Angela's, Queen of Rosettes.

(In Jeffrey's defense though, a couple of weeks ago he was being called misogynistic because he ragged on Laura and Angela. The fact that he doesn't like two women [and doesn't have to] doesn't make him a misogynist. If I'm acting like a shrieking harpy, dudes have the right to make fun of me without hating women as a group. Misogynist. Bah. That word is as overused as "Nazi.")

Complete agreement, Lisa. I loathe Angela but dude, don't bitch out her mom. And with the exception of last week's newspaper dress, I think everything else Jeffrey's done has been hideous. And don't even get me started on the tattoo on his neck. Oh and here's my two cents, Jeff: If you have a giraffe neck, don't call attention to it with a swirly font tattooed to it.

Allison got a raw deal last week. I'm still reeling for her "auf wiedersehen."

Vincent concerns me. I don't trust him around scissors and other pointy objects.

Michael Kors's critiques? KILL ME. Nina Garcia, on the other hand, stirs a nervousness within me akin to what I felt in Sister Margaret's math class. My daily silent mantra was: "Please don't pick on me today. Please don't pick on me today. Please don't pick on me today." I can only imagine that the contestants feel the same way when standing before her on the runway.

hahahaha I so know what you mean about Nina.

I so need to do some catching up - I have missed the last couple of episodes.

I have heard great things about Michael. (Mere???)

And how is Uli doing? I really liked her from the beginning of the season.

Michael is fabulous. I love everything he makes.

Uli is super talented. I think she'll be in the final 3 with Michael and maybe Laura. Vincent will self-destruct soon so I'm ruling him out as possible upset.

Once again, it must be said: I.am.sad.

Curly -- what was your take on Bradley? TWoP's recapper kept saying how sweet and gentle he was, but to me he seemed a little "special," if you know what I mean.

Sheila -- Michael is the shit. He doesn't take himself too seriously, and the outfit he made to modernize Pam Grier was fanTAStic!

Posted by: Lisa at August 24, 2006 8:46 PM

Bradley looked just like the lead singer from the Spin Doctors. He also looked befuddled. At first I found it endearing but by episode 3, I found it maddening. I'm still shocked by the praise Nina bestowed on him in the dog outfit episode. Um, what?!?!

uli and michael are definitely the favorites...they have their own styles and yet don't seem visible in the final product. like, everything angela makes is vengeance against some high school soccer player who bragged about getting a hand job from the weird chick with the salvation army clothes. 'i'll show him by making everyone dress this way!' and whenever she has to do something that isn't a porcupine pressed through a play-doh factory it is a disaster.

can't quite put my finger on why i hate laura so much. might be the lapsed catholic response to irresponsible parenthood...like, use a freakin' condom, you have 5 and you are old!

vincent is crazy but hands down best quote to laura 'why don't you stick a couple of winstons up your nose..' ohmigod. hilarious.

and bradley?

'Sorry Mr. Calvin, er Klein, I just got to staring at this one piece of sparkly material and...hey, are you hungry? I really like computers but my brothers were more into sports. Wait, what were we talking about? Where are you going?'

Dude, CONCENTRATE.

My daughter and I are placing bets on the final three.

I originally figured Allison would be in there - so I'm shocked, frankly, she got auf'd.

My bets:
1) Jeffrey. He's this season's Santino - a fair-to-middling talent but a polarizing figure who makes great TV.

2) Angela. She's like this season's Chloe - talented and photogenic. (And my daughter hates her the same way she hated Chloe)

3) Tough call for the third slot, but I'm gonna say Michael. Talented, a sympathetic figure, and a change of pace for the show. I thought Uli (?) for a while, but I don't think she's got the "production value" of Michael.

ok- I missed this weeks episode- I usually see it on the weekend. But I think I mentioned how much i HATE Jeffrey. His ego is unbearable. Vincent...He is a total nutcase- I agree with Curly that he will most likely self destruct. I saw that Robert was off'd although i haven't seen the episode yet. I'm kind of glad about that, he was not really very interesting in any way whatsoever. I love Kayne-I thought what he said about dumpster diving was hilarious. and besides that ugly green thing he created he does some gorgeous work. Angela- can't wait to see her go, I was really bummed that Allison got voted off. DID ANYONE ELSE WANT TO VOMIT WHEN VINCENT BLEW THAT FAKEY SAD KISS TO HER?? You KNOW he was really thrilled inside. he's a freakin icky ickster. Laura- she's weird too, (horse riding pants?) but i like her dresses. Hands down, Uli and Michael are the best. Michael's Pam Grier outfit was HOT! He is so smart and so....normal! and Uli's stuff is always great looking. I think either one of them could win.

How did I miss Vincent's icky kiss?!?! Oh, I know! I was too busy vomiting over his "It gets me off" defense of his ugly macaroni art dress.

Posted by: curly mcdimple at August 25, 2006 2:58 PM

Curly- EEEEW I know! that was just ...i don't even know. ...unnecessary?? inappropriate??
he's such a freak.

I don't get how you guys can defend Jeffery. That guy is a dick. Sorry, he's just an untalented dick in my opinion. Uli, Laura and Michael are my favorites. Vincent looks and acts unstable. His clothes aren't that great (I really can't believe he won the last challenge - Michael was robbed.) Uli is probably more talented but Michael's personality makes me want him to win.
