The pictures of the fire in the cathedral in St. Petersberg have a fierce and awful beauty.

Horrifying.
oh, things like that make me so sad! I know everything is ephemeral and has to go someday, but...all that history, all that tradition, gone.

St Pete is blessed with a number of out of this world Churches. It is always a shame when something like this happens. From the pictures it looks like they were able to salvage some of the art work from the building so not everything was lost. Trying to find a silver lining her.
