Tracey sent me this image with a brief one-line email - which (I hope she won't mind) I will quote in full. She kind of says it all:
The face is in direct opposition to everything else.
Uhm ... yeah.

hahahahaha
Yeah, I saw Dino in Las; but not till early '80's. To see him and Rat Pack in '60's would have been just too much. Every fan must get to Limewire or some download service and find Rat Pack and/or Dino live tracks from club dates in 60's. Just amazing. Thier humor and hip factor (other than use of word "broad" which makes me wince) stand up beautifully. We'll have to discuss how much of his Reprise stuff was pretty bad, formulaic, phoning it in performances. Reptitive 2/4 beat, w/quasi rock-country influence. But his "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" era songs were more the real guy. His comedic talent though came to him and was as good as his singing. OK; enough. Next!
Posted by: Jim at September 17, 2006 7:19 PMThis shot of him reminds me a bit of my brother - this handsome guy, and when he dresses up he looks like a million BUCKS - but then the goofball-ness of him! It's a beautiful contrast - really electric. A lot of good-looking guys are self-conscious about their own beauty (they're treated differently - it's not totally their fault) - but the guys who happen to be good looking and who are also HUGE GOOFS (uhm - Cary Grant?) - that's money in the bank.

Posted by: tracey at September 17, 2006 11:06 PMit looks like he's trying really hard not to bust out laughing over something. That's an awesome picture. I love the humanness of it.
