Life Before the Segway

My friend Nate has been filming various "talking head spots" for The Onion - and they're hilarious. The dead seriousness, the parody of it ... I love them!

Here's the latest. Nate's the first one who speaks when it's opened up for comments.

It's so stupid and so funny.

"he had some shit to take care of ..."

"I was on a horse!" (and the fact that that is the only comment that that guy makes.) HA!

He's the guy with sideburns, or the balding dude who does Sonic commercials?

Hilarious. I'm pretty sure the "horse" guy is Billy Merritt, who is doing a show called "Uncorked" on that weird HDTV channel where he goes around to learn about wine. Really funny segment.

I like how after he says something - he kind of waits, like: "just throwin' that out there for the group to chew on ..."

It's so ridiculous! But also such a good imitation of how those blowhards behave.

Okay....brilliant. Brilliant.

"Just sittin' here, listening to ya'all. I don't remember life before the segue."

What?????

Genius.

And the titale of the book the guy with glasses worte?

"How To Love Things That Go."

Yes. Yes. Dear God, yes.

OOOppss:

Segway....not segue. Like....the machine, not the other thing.

hahaha The book title!

I love how the one woman on the panel gets all choked up and emotional at the end "I can't imagine my life before the segway" - and the guys are all kind of stunned into silence. Trying to nod supportively but you know they're all really like, "Uhm, okay, wouldn't take it THAT far ..."

hahaha

You guys just gave me a pretty good segue to a Segway. It's from the post immediately prior, where Dave Campbell talks about how impractical it is for anyone to drive in the city, even a superhero.
