New photo set

My day in Central Park yesterday. I went in the morning to get in line for Romeo and Juliet, only to find that there had to be at least 1000 people in line already - some obviously had camped out from the night before (ah, memories). It took me 25 minutes to reach the end of the line. !!! DAMMit!!! But there was no way I would get tickets for that night, so I moved on. Spent the whole day in the park. Thankfully I had my sunblock with me - otherwise it would have been a disaster. Beauty, though - so much beauty!! Here are some pictures.

Great pics, red. Went through them twice. That's some green grass.

Love them!!
I have a touristy question for you: How long does it take to see all of Central Park? When we went in August '05, we spent the whole day there, and only saw from 59th Street up to (down to?) Strawberry Fields and the big lake next to Tavern on the Green. I feel as though we missed so much, since we sped through trying to see as much as possible.

Amanda - I think it would take months to see everything. It's huge!! There are vast areas that I have never even been to!

But that whole lake area that you got to see is one of my favorite spots in the park, it's just so quaint.

See? Another reason why I should move over there! ;-)

Nice pics. I love Central Park. About 20 years ago I took my first trip to NYC to visit a sister who had moved there a couple of years before. We spent a Saturday walking the length of the park from the NW corner. Even with all that time and distance walked there were a number of things we didn't have time for.

Of course, in addition to the walking guide to Central Park we also had a bar guide to Manhattan. That did cut into things a bit.

Well you definitely need to make pitstops along the way during such a marathon walk - liquid refreshment!!

I should do that sometime - walk the length and breadth of the park - would be a good field trip!

I don't remember the name of the book she had on the park, but it had a lot of interesting history and details. Until then I didn't know how sculpted Central Park was and the amount of effort it took to make it what it is today.

The bar book was something along the lines of "A guide to the 10,000 bars of New York" or some such. This led to several conversations along the lines of:

"If we walk this way we can see this, this, and this, and then we can stop at (blank)'s. It says here they have 38 different brands of Irish Whiskey."

"Okay."
