When I got cast in my first big show in my first big theatre, I called my mother all excited and jumping up and down, and said in a big loud voice:

"Mom! Mom! You'll never GUESS what happened!!"

She took a long, deep breath, and said very carefully to me:

"I don't want any more surprises from *you*."

Hilarious.

Oh, I often get "backyard wildlife" updates from my mom in her phone conversations. I love it.

I also love her "you'll never believe the funny thing my friend X said" updates. It's the little, everyday stuff that I enjoy.

(I don't love so much - which she did when one of her cats was having some health issues - the "litterbox update." But I love my mom, so I put up with it.)
