One of my great acting teachers said once that he was a big fan of "sublimation". That "sublimation" very often led to great art. He said, "You take your pain ... and you make it sublime."
My dear friend Alex continues to take my breath away in that regard. Over and over and over again ... she takes her pain and makes it sublime.
