The Body

Two beautiful posts by two separate people - I read them yesterday within an hour of each other ... and somehow they seemed to inform each other, talk to each other - add nuance and shade to the same beautiful message ... Both messages I really needed to hear right now.

Camera-Shy?

Penny for your thoughts, a nickel for your kiss, and a dime if you tell me that you love me.

Thanks for linking to those - especially "Camera-Shy?" - that really resonated with me. Thank you. A good way to begin my day.

I know, right? I totally related to it, too.

My wife is like this to some degree. The truth is 15 years go by, and you will wish you looked as "great" as you did when you used to think you looked awful. I remember looking at men at the beach when I was young, and I would wonder how they could let themselves become these skinny-legged, big-bellied, hairy-backed monstrosities. Now I know the answer--you live, and it happens. It's like that old story where everyone puts their worst problems into the center of a table, and you are allowed to choose the one you want to deal with, and everyone chooses their own problem again. Their are things I don't like about my middle-aged body(and let's face it, it's not really middle age--unless I live to 102), but I'm not about to trade with anyone either. My body has been much better to me than I have been to it.
