How much do I want that to be a reality show?? (Read Beth’s awesome post.) Beckett Boot Camp. Genius.
My parents were at the game last night! Very exciting. I lay in bed, with my stupid ear infection, drugged up on my penicillin horse pills … and listened to the game on the radio.
I think one of my favorite quotes in the last couple of days was from Julio Lugo, in regards to Pedroia (or, in O’Malley parlance: “Little Buddy”): “That little midget is the man.”
Anyway, that little midget IS the man.
I also want to have an entire DVD of Josh Beckett’s press conferences. High comedy.
No coherence here. My ear infection is kickin’ my ass. Drugs are good.
The Red Sox cleaned up last night. It was an awesome game. Three instant strike outs by Beckett and a home run in the first inning. Sorry to hear you’re still sick! As I was watching last night, as some point I thought to myself “daaa-ham. I hope Sheila’s watching this at a bar somewhere because no Red Sox fan should miss this.”
I just can’t jump on the “HATE THE SOX” bandwagon. In fact, I think I’m getting a little crush on Josh.
//I think I’m getting a little crush on Josh//
Me too.
I remember how afraid of him I was back in 2003 – for good reason. Dude is fierce. I love the F bombs, the testosterone – and the OCD stepping between the white lines after every inning.
It was a great game – and I’m really really happy my parents were there.
That’s very cool! And it didn’t even rain too much!
Yeah – it was pouring down here, so I was a bit nervous!!
I think the Rockies would have been better served had they not started a fetus at pitcher. Jeebus gay, my 14-year-old has more facial hair than Jeff Francis!
As a Die-Hard Cub Fan, I get to hate Josh Beckett even more than I hate the DH. Which I do. It is my right after 2003.
i have not head that lugo quote! oh that makes me laugh. LITTLE BUDDY!
I am going to the Hairy Monk to watch tonight’s game! I must be surrounded by Red Sox fans. They were supposed to win last night (and win they did) but tonight is crucial. Not quite a “must win” but crucial nonetheless.
Oh, how I wish for health so I could join you!!
Me too!!
I just watched a part of one of Beckett’s press conferences on Youtube. It was from after the game at Cleveland, where the Indian’s had flown in an ex-girlfriend of his to sing the national anthem, I guess to try and throw him a bit. He just blew it off. “Whatever. We’re still friends. Thanks for flying my f%&king friend out to watch the game for free.”
Hahahaha. I’m in love.
I love that clip!!! Seriously – I need to do a compilation disc of “beckett press conference highlights” because I never get sick of them!!
He is always responding in that “whatever, stupid question” manner, and it’s just hilarious to watch. And somehow – it’s also strangely endearing … not TOO hostile and mean … I don’t know, it’s very entertaining.
The best was when pitcher Chuck Finley and Tawny Kitaen went splitsville, fueled by allegations that SHE smacked HIM around. In his road starts after that, he’d take the mound and the opposing PA guys would play Whitesnake songs; then he bitched to Selig and they ordered that it be stopped. Pansy.
I think the whole thing was hilarious.
Surviving Grady’s writing on Josh Beckett has been laugh out loud funny for this entire season. I was really psyched I got to see him pitch.
psst, sheila–it’s not a DVD, but Texas Gal at Out In Center Field has the hookup w/ press conference vids.
!!!! Hooray – thanks, Beth! Hours of enjoyment for the whole family. Or, not, due to the # of f-bombs. Thanks!
