"Base-ah-ballz a-been veddy veddy good to me."
And very good to me, too!
Congrats, 2007 Red Sox. So exciting, and so well-deserved. (Beth's got the stats) It's been a helluva ride.

Uhm ... Youk? I get the sense you may be feeling a little ambivalent about the win. And I want to encourage you to come out of your shell, let your joy show a bit more openly. Thanks.
Darned Cubans are everywhere! Even MVPs in the World Series!

Now - enough about "curses" forever more, m'kay?
The Rockies had to have been pretty decent to make it this far, but honestly, they almost looked like a Little League team next to the Red Sox for the whole series. Part way through game 4, I just wrote things off as hopeless and switched to "CSI: Miami" because finishing off David Caruso's cliched one-liners and laughing at the camp of that show was less painful than watching the game. And I wasn't even rooting for either side. The most I was hoping for was a 5th game to see Josh Beckett in action one more time.
Congrats to the Sox and their fans.
Posted by: Emily at October 29, 2007 10:30 AMMitch- I want you to find the posts where I go on about the "curse". They don't exist. So enough with your bullshit about that, mkay? Or whatever, you can "whine" about the "whiners" on your own blog - but don't project that crap onto me. You're the one keeping some "curse" alive by even bringing it up.
Posted by: red at October 29, 2007 10:44 AMVal - a totally well-deserved award!! He has quickly become one of my favorite players.

Hah!! My wife loves David Caruso and has banished me to the bedroom during CSI: Miami because I do the very same thing.
Congrats to The Red Sox and all their wonderful fans especially you Red.
Posted by: Reno Sepulveda at October 29, 2007 11:15 AMOne of mine, too. I love Lowell.
Posted by: Jayne at October 29, 2007 11:16 AMI knew that would happen - I meant - Val, Sheila, me too - Mike Lowell has become one of my favorite players too. I can't think or type coherently this morning.
YAY SOX!!!!!
Posted by: Jayne at October 29, 2007 11:17 AM"Okay. Think ... David Caruso in Jade."
"Got it."
"You got it?"
"Yup."
hahahahaha
Posted by: red at October 29, 2007 11:20 AMI actually really want to see that movie just to figure out what they were talking about. But David Caruso's pretty one dimensional, so I probably already know.
But that line is so funny, like...how did two of the four people that actually watched that movie collide with each other, let alone work in the same place? But still, "David Caruso in Jade" as dating advice...
Posted by: Emily at October 29, 2007 11:24 AMI know! It's soooo specific!
Posted by: red at October 29, 2007 11:28 AMJon Lester. OK? Hmm, could there be a better ending to this season? Wakefield gets hurt after a great regular season and Jon Lester clinches the World Series.
Amazing.
Posted by: Brendan at October 29, 2007 12:00 PMSo good. So good.
Posted by: Dan at October 29, 2007 12:01 PMHere is how I picture it...
David Caruso sits at home wearing his sunglasses while Jonathon Papelbon throws the last strike.
He slowly takes them off.
And changes the channel to watch himself on CSI: Miami.
Posted by: Brendan at October 29, 2007 12:02 PMI love them so much that sometimes it hurts.
Joy! Joy! Joy!
Posted by: Kerry at October 29, 2007 12:30 PMI console myself with the thought that the real, if unofficial, World Series ended a week ago.
Also with Jameson's, but I have too much schoolwork to do much of that.
Congratulations to the Sox.
Posted by: Ken at October 29, 2007 12:53 PMKerry - where did you watch the game?
I wish I had been with family or friends, but I was alone. My phone was ringing off the hook though!
Posted by: red at October 29, 2007 2:15 PMDa Sawx!
This is making my coworker, the thin-skinned Yankee fan, SOOOOOO happy.
Now we just have to wait for the Pats to finish stomping the NFL into little greasy smears. He may need that Monday off. (muahahahahaha)
Posted by: nightfly at October 29, 2007 2:19 PMIt's been a great weekend for me and sports. I don't know if you ever visit Dennis Cozzalio's blog Sergio Leone and the Infield Fly Rule but I made a bet with him on the series. He lost (Sox smash Rox every time). His most hated movie of the nineties is now on his sidebar for all of November (he's a very good sport and a great guy).
And my Pats... 52-7. Sweet. But next week's the real test against the Colts.
Re: your lashing of Mitch. I am in awe of you.
Jonathan - I love Dennis' blog!! I have to go check out his sidebar - that's hysterical!!!
Posted by: red at October 29, 2007 5:14 PMOh my God, I just saw the poster up in Dennis' sidebar and I am guffawing.
Posted by: red at October 29, 2007 5:17 PMYes!
Posted by: southernbosox at October 29, 2007 6:27 PMBrendan,
I agree with your comment about Jon Lester. However, I thought Francona made a HUGE mistake by yanking Lester after a 3-2 walk. Delcarmen was saved by a great performance by Timlin, would have been better to let Lester go into the 6th, I mean, he wasn't even up for the top of the 6th batting order.
