Paging Sigmund Freud

Talking with Cashel on the phone last night. He launched into a monologue at one point.

“I was playing the Star Wars Legos game the other night, and I was so focused on it that I dreamed about Legos that night! And the dreams were reeaaaally scary!! Dad said that I was so concentrated on the Legos that they went into my subconscious.”

I hate it when that happens.

HAHAHA! Your nephew has one lively imagination, Sheila! I love his comments, they make me want to drown him in kisses (which I think he would most certainly hate!).

I miss those times of my childhood when I could concentrate so much on things, on my games, movies, stuff like that, and have them take over my life… it was wonderful. Of course, I had no idea what a subconscious was, haha!

By the way: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHEILA!! :)

Thank you Ceci! You’re sweet to remember!! Yes, Cashel definitely ENDURES my hugs now. After all, he is 10 years old. But still!

As a wee birthday treat to myself this morning, i watched Marilyn singing to JFK in Madison Square Garden. She’s so adorable and I love the swoop in her hair. Isn’t it kind of creepy, though, that she was introduced as “the late Marilyn Monroe”?? And she would be dead soon after? Gave me the creeps!

happy whatnot, sheila! i hope today found you well and leaves you in a state of reasonable bliss; cheers. ^_^

and because a birthday is a personal new year of sorts, to quote Neil Gaiman, ‘I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t to forget make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.’

Yeap, that awful, creepy “late Marilyn Monroe” quote. I still have trouble looking at that footage, knowing what would come so shortly afterwards. I always have conflicting feelings when watching Marilyn sing to JFK, because it is such an iconic moment, so memorable, and at the same time we all know what will follow. Makes me sad and proud at the same time, go figure.

But let us focus on the memorable… Marilyn sashaying onstage in her tight, tight dress she was sown in, looking like a million dollars. I never thought that the “Happy Birthday” song could be so sexy, haha! The way she whispers the song… she was fantastic. And that flip! It’s famous by now, and the hairdresser that did it practically made a career out of it (you know, as in: “I was the one to INVENT the famous Marilyn flip!!!”).

That is sooo funny, because the same thing often happens to me when I’ve spent several hours playing video games. Does make for some creepy dreams.

  8. red says:

Jackie – no way! Happy birthday to you!! Nov. 27th people, we’ve gotta stick together!

  9. just1beth says:
