It was frigid cold. There were snow flurries. The wind was intense and YEARNED to toss me into the freezing waves. Fences by the water were coated with ice. The shoreline is one of the most beautiful places on earth, as far as I’m concerned. And the skyline takes my breath away. I get emotional, when it comes to Chicago. It is the city of my heart. It really is. I walked probably 5 or 6 miles yesterday, and finally came home, and collapsed in a chair. It took me about an hour to warm up. Here are some pictures.

Spume. (Mitchell made fun of me when I called it “spume”. To quote him accurately, he said, “Fuck you and your spume.”)

The skyline. Oo say drak.
Wow. I remember walking down by that lake during winter. It’s really magical. I felt that yearning too. The thing that made it seem so beautiful was it’s cold, cruel indifference.
These are wonderful, Sheila.
wow..
Fantastic. You have a great eye for the little things. The ice-coated fence and iced-over marina are so interesting to look at, but what strikes me most is the stark contrast that shot of the tree provides. The way it’s framed, you’d never guess that a massive body of water is literally a stone’s throw away. Terrific photo set.
Noonz – thank you! I really love that tree one, too … it’s like the end of the earth … but you can’t really tell what’s beyond. Also the colors – the brown dry grass, etc. It was so cool (and also COLD!!) out there!
