I love that comment of his quoted in the NY Times obit:

“I picture my epitaph,” he once said. “Here lies Paul Newman, who died a failure because his eyes turned brown.”

He was a gift to movie lovers. A true original. Made the transition from matinee idol to character actor so easily because there was no transition. Never just a pretty face. A great loss.

Great minds! I posted the fourth one on my site too. I had that picture hanging in my office for years and I lost it in a move. Thank God for Google images.
