Photo Booths, Through the Years

I have stacks of photo-booth pictures. Nothing like a good old-fashioned photo booth. Mitchell and I obviously have never seen a photo booth we could say No to … and we make it a game, calling out emotional directions before each flash. “RAGE!” “DOMESTIC ANGST!” “SEXUAL HIJINX!” It’s also fun if you happen to have four people to make it so that each person gets one picture, which involves leaping into the booth, posing, leaping out, so you can make way for the next person.

Your brother has one of the warmest faces I think I’ve ever seen. You see him and instantly like him.

Mitchell’s bugged-out eyes in the fifth photo are killing me.

I’m a little frightened by what appears to be your melted wax hand in that one photo.

    Your solo photo is gorgeous.

The last photo — I love your completely opposite expressions.

Wow – my hand does look like melted wax. That is so bizarre. Where or where did my DIGITS go???

The bug-eyes of Mitchell in that one photo – I’ve been laughing about them all morning.

If I ever purchase a line of photo booths, you can be sure I’ll put one in your neighborhood. Given the state of the Markets, that would be a better, and more profitable, retirement plan.

I also think your solo photo is gorgeous. Great shot of you. And love the last photo. I think my favorite multiple-person shot is the one of you and Mitchell where you’re not sure what you’re acting out. You might be acting out, but it’s a very real looking moment.

A lot of the black and white ones feel right out of a French new wave film.
