I’ve taken a lot of pictures in Memphis. This is one of my favorites. If I’m remembering correctly, this was during an hours-long morning walk through the city in early 2013. I had to have walked 6 or 7 miles, total. It was in between Christmas and New Year’s so the city was kind of shut down, not much going on. It wasn’t like visiting in the summer months. I took one long walk on the morning of New Year’s Day where I did not see one other soul, not ONE. I just like the collage aspect of this picture, it’s instantly recognizable as Memphis, and the colors are somewhat muted – it was a grey wintry morning – which makes the SIGN and the TROLLEY stand out that much more.
