That Colt .45 1911 and the Thompson in the next shot are a nice pairing, especially pointing in opposites. I like the bolt-action rifle sequence, too – when you hunt animals or men, it’s all the same over iron sights. Nowadays, when I see a field-strip and clean session in a film, or even a gear-up with a satchel-full of shooters, I can’t help but compare them to the nonpareil scene in “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly,” where Eli Wallach’s Tuco disassembles a few old Colts and reassembles he best parts into one piece, in a few minutes of screen time. For a guy that bad, one is all you need.
I love that scene with Eli Wallach! I’ve been thinking of doing this as a new series – my favorite gun porn – that one should definitely be in there.
I almost had a heart attack of pleasure when I saw the gun-assembly sequence in The American.
Don’t forget the most porn one of all – Pvt. Gomer Pyle onanizing his M14 in “Full Metal Jacket”.
Sci-Fi was I always get a jolt of pleasure at Hicks showing Ripley the pulse rifle, and then her kittting it out to go rescue Newt.
Sci-fi “wise”, damn fingers.
