I mentioned here that Gavin Macleod was in Compulsion – but I had a hard time figuring out (at first) which one he was. Now I know – he’s an assistant district attorney (I’m assuming) – and he has a couple of lines with EG Marshall, saying, “I don’t think they had anything to do with it …” etc. Then when Judd (Dean Stockwell) is confronted with Artie’s confession – Judd tries to break out of the hotel room to go see Artie. And good old Gavin Macleod (already bald) is one of the dudes holding him back.
I don’t know why this amuses me so much, but it does.
Captain Stubing wrestling with a wild Dean Stockwell. Perhaps Stockwell misbehaved on the Ledo Deck. Or Isaac had to cut him off and he got unruly about it.
What I want to know is if Dean Stockwell really dated Tony Basil (Hey Mickey)back in the 60s? And was Tony Basil really Dennis Hopper’s cemetary “date” in Easy Rider? It’s just too bizarre for me to wrap my mind around.
Yes and yes! They were all part of the same crowd. I know Hopper and Stockwell are thick as thieves to this day.
You’re so fine you blow my mind
Hey Mickey!
Speaking of Hopper and Stockwell – I love that they both were in the pseudo-documentary of Gnarls Barkley’s video “smiley faces”:

Hysterical – they’re such smartasses.
Oh, and watch to the very end – they show up then, too. I get such a kick out of the two of them. Wild boys.
Hah! Those guys are too cool.
Thanks for getting the Love Boat theme stuck in my head. And I think of Gavin Macleod as Murray on MTM as much as the good Captain. What an ensemble THAT was.
Eric – heh. For some real fun, just swap Captain Steubing and Captain Picard, and picture the Love Boat swarmed over with Borg or whatever.
It’s actually possible to swap the entire casts, we worked out all the parallels in college but I don’t remember them off the top of my head. Isaac was Geordi, I think Julie was Troi… Gopher was Wesley, because we were mean kids.
“You will accompany me to the Lido deck for drinks and innuendo…resistance is futile.”
That video is hilarious. I love all of their costumes for each decade.
Jen – hahahaha I love it too.
I love the photo of the “Gnarleston”.
