One of my favorite things about Rhode Island is:

10 minutes away from my parents house in one direction you can see:

The second one looks like it’s coming through a blue filter. I’m just mesmerized by the horizon.

Great photos, Sheila! I love it.

hey! when did you take these? aren’t you coming this weekend? huh? huh?

  4. red says:

Yes!! I’m coming back this weekend!

  5. Eric the...bald says:

That is cool. Variety IS the spice.

  6. red says:

Oh – and I came home this past weekend, too – but it was a quick one. Met up with Jackie in Mystic on Saturday and then came back to NY on Sunday morning.

I’ll have way more time this next weekend … can’t wait for our gathering at Beth’s pool. I am already counting the minutes!

    me too YAY!

  8. red says:

Mere – I LOVED the pictures of your karate beach class!! I looked at all of them on Jayne’s page – looks like it was a thundery day, huh?

I am surprised there is no comment about the STAGE upstairs at the library in Kingston. Ummm… Free to Be… You and Me?? Betsy’s famous “bubble” note? Now THOSE would be some great pictures!!! (Hahahahahahah!!) By the way- I was looking for Conor in those surfing pics, as that is his new favorite hangout for surfing.(More like paddling his long board, getting right smack dab in the middle of all these surfers that have a ton of experience, and attempting to catch a wave. I am shocked that he hasn’t had his ass kicked. Aaah- to be 13 again, and pompous enough to believe you know what the hell you are doing!!!)
PS Saturday night at about6:00 at my pool. Bring a dish and a bottle. Girls only- no kids- too much to talk about!!! Anyone who can make it!!! Bets? Michele? Mere?

  10. red says:

beth – wait wait remind me … what is the bubble note??? why don’t I remember that?

Is there still a stage up there?

And of course – Betsy and I did “hans and the silver skates” in the big “multipurpose room” at King Kong across the street when we were 10 or whatever.

  11. red says:

I love that Conor’s all about surfing now. That is so cool. There were quite a few out there – just no surf!!

    Betsy/bubble:
During “William wants a Doll” when she had to sing “…and bring up a bubble” the second syllable of the word “bubble” was this really high note that she just NAILED. Jayne Wilke and the rest of us were just in awe of her. Pretty awesome.

I don’t know if there is a stage there still. I do know that I have the tape of “Free to Be…” and played it for my kindergarteners this past year. The whole, “I’m a baby…what do you think I am? A loaf of bread?”line still draws big laughs among the five year old crowd.

  13. red says:

    Of course!! Now I remember!

“Bald? You’re bald as a ping pong ball, are you bald!”

  14. just1beth says:

“Some mommies drive taxis… Or sing on TVeeeeeeeeeeeeee”

  15. red says:

hahaha I can still see you miming driving that humungous taxi.

  16. just1beth says:

It was a very very big vehicle that enabled all my friends and relatives to come along for the ride. HA HA HA!!!
Just got emails from Mere and Michele- they are in for Saturday. Just waiting to hear from Betsy. Oooh Betseeeeeeeeeeeee……. are you coming??????????

  17. southernbosox says:

“Ladies first, ladies first.” And so she was. And mighty tasty too.

    I LOVE Free to Be!

  18. Jayne says:

And it wasn’t just the high note of “Bubble” that impressed me (and us) – it was also the (and i’m going to spell this wrong probably) vibratto as well. I can still hear it – I am sure we taped it. You guys all impressed me to death. Really. I feel like a geek for gushing (and Mere will no doubt roll her eyes at this and make fun of me) but I was just in AWE – and not just then, but all through high school and beyond.
