All of the contributors at Rogerebert.com were asked to fill out a “Movie Questionnaire”, just so the readers can get to know the writers a little better. My pal Odie Henderson was the first to go. Mine just went live. (I had filled out mine before I read Odie’s, and I love the overlap, especially the “Sounder” detail.)

I love that you love GI Jane. My labor pains with my firstborn started in the theater watching that movie. I kept thinking that if she could endure what she was going through, surely I could handle some stomach cramps. I haven’t seen the movie since, but I remember many of the scenes vividly.
Jill – ha, I love your memory of seeing that movie!
I love that aspect of the film – how she has to suck it up and endure the pain, and how it is complicated by the fact that she’s a woman. I love that.
I also love Viggo Mortensen’s performance – it’s the best thing he’s ever done, and it doesn’t even RATE on most people’s lists of his good performances. He is phenomenal in the film, creates a real character, a real oddball.
I watch it all the time. I find it entertaining and engaging, every time!
