Hmmm…
First “Stalag 17” and now “Bridge on the River Kwai”. I may just have to embark on a greatest war movies of all time viewing extravaganza.
Jay – Excellent job identifying the movie! It’s just a shattering scene. Alec Guinness does such a wonderful job. They all do – I can feel the heatstroke!
My favorite David Lean film. Great stuff
The step-father of one of my friend’s in high school was in the prison camp. He suffered terribly from internal parasites, which finally killed him as they progressed into his heart. He told us of eating rats and beetles just to survive, but mostly, he didn’t speak of it. He as a fairly young man, but looked much older than his age. He was a nice guy…
