\nOn one of my trips to Chicago after I left, I went down to the shores of Lake Michigan. It was March, and freezing cold. The little marina was completely frozen over, and there were chunks of ice heaving up and down on the water. I walked to the lake from where I used to live – my first apartment in Chicago, a block from the Lake Shore. The field of grass was yellow, the sky beyond was cloudy and grey.
