\nAs we all know, Film Comment<\/i> shut its doors last year in the first months of the pandemic. Everyone was upset. Perhaps the magazine will revive, perhaps it will not, but in the meantime, they have launched a weekly newsletter. It’s free. It will feature one or two new pieces (as well as links to the weekly podcast, which has remained ongoing). You can sign up for it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The first one was sent out yesterday and it features two pieces, one by the legendary Molly Haskell and one by yours truly. I am not unaware of how cool it is to be placed side by side with this luminary, to launch the newsletter. <\/p>\n \n My piece is only in excerpt in the newsletter, but the full piece will be on the website on Monday. <\/p>\n I wrote a tribute piece to the great Monte Hellman, who just died last month.<\/p>\n \n \nWe all were just talking about Hellman the comments section here<\/a>. I was busy at work on that piece as that discussion unfolded!<\/p>\n Anyway, do sign up. Film Comment<\/i> needs the support. It’s been around for 60 years. The loss in the critical landscape was felt immediately, and I’m not just saying that because I write for them.
