Another day at the beach with even bigger waves. These teetered above the horizon in a way I have rarely seen at this particular beach (or in the Atlantic, in general). At any given moment, you could see four giant waves teetering towards shore, holding off before they broke into foam. The lifeguards let us swim in one small area, and a couple of them didn’t even sit in the lifeguard chair but stood on the shore, trying to monitor the situation. You really couldn’t swim out far, it was obviously too dangerous. The waves had to be 12 to 15 feet high. It’s an odd sight, and very intimidating. I got really knocked around and had no time to recover because each wave was followed by a big sucking trough that then gathered its power quickly into another teetering wave. There was no rest between waves. The horzion was lost. It was awesome.<\/p>\n
